From a young age, I found immense purpose through serving others and building meaningful connections within my community. In high school, I founded a chapter of JustServe, an organization dedicated to organizing a variety of service projects in different areas. Some of my most formative moments happened sorting donated clothes in a church basement, crocheting plastic mats out of grocery bags, and assembling refugee kits with classmates on a Saturday morning. I deepened this passion through volunteering with the Christian Center of Park City, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals access essential resources like food, clothing, and basic assistance. It was there that I realized that while meeting basic needs is critical, lasting change comes from addressing the policies and systems behind those needs. These experiences taught me that service is most impactful when paired with empathy, consistency, and a deeper understanding of the systemic barriers people face.

Now, as a student studying Business Economics and Political Science, I have been able to acquire a clearer lens to accurately understand the problems I care so deeply about. My studies have both made me more passionate about issues that I knew, but also more equipped to understand and find solutions for these problems.

Combining my love for economics and public policy with a passion for service, I decided to pursue an opportunity at The Center for Economic Opportunity and Belonging. Seeing the Center’s dedication to belonging, collaboration, and community-based solutions, I knew this was a place where I could continue the work I began in high school by supporting those whose voices are often unheard. I am driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to opportunity and that thoughtful policy can be a powerful tool for belonging and change.

As I look toward my future career, I hope to continue engaging in policy work that empowers communities, breaks down barriers, and promotes opportunity for all. I am eager to grow in my understanding of the world around me and to contribute to solutions that foster lasting belonging and economic opportunity.
