Thought Piece: Utah’s Global Talent: 2023 - 2024 New Americans Task Force Progress Report

Utah is increasingly a destination for global talent, and the New American Task Force (Task Force) is ensuring we don’t just attract, but also retain and empower international professionals.

A recent study conducted by the New Americans Task Force on Optional Practical Training (OPT) trends, in partnership with Global Detroit, shows that most international students who graduate in Utah choose to stay here. With over 10,000 international students enrolled in Utah universities contributing $303 million to the state’s economy, it’s clear they’re a vital part of our future.

By strengthening pathways from education to employment, the Task Force is turning potential into prosperity. These students aren’t just visitors, they are future entrepreneurs, engineers, and educators, ready to contribute to the Utah we’re building together.
